OTU Student Housing Apartments

We offer furnished and unfurnished apartments at our Ontario Tech University off-campus housing, with two, three, four, or five bedrooms, shared living spaces and bathrooms. All of the apartments in our Ont Tech U residence are secure and use an access card control system.

When applying to live in our student housing, Oshawa students are given a profile card on which they can specify their preferences and other requests. These will be taken into consideration as we plan your placement at 17Hundred. All applicant requests are processed on a first-come first-served basis, depending on the date your application was received.

Off-Campus Student Housing Amenities

At 17Hundred, each apartment is designed to provide comfort and convenience to our residents. All apartments have at least two bedrooms and one shared bathroom, a kitchen, dining area, and living room, and some of our student housing units even have a private balcony. Applicants may choose between a furnished or an unfurnished apartment, making it easy to find the housing solution that best suits your needs.

The apartments in this off-campus housing include electricity, water, gas, and internet, and are spacious, with large windows designed to optimize the amount of natural light. There’s plenty of storage space to help keep you organized, including several kitchen cupboards and cabinets and built in closets in the bedrooms. Our off-campus student residence is designed with your overall well-being in mind. Being physically fit and spending time unwinding with your peers is essential for managing the many stresses of college life.

At 17Hundred, we have a 24-hour fitness centre and yoga room where you can exercise or do meditation any time you want without having to enroll in a gym or head to a yoga studio. We have made it as convenient as possible for you to start or maintain an existing fitness regimen so that it’s easier for you to include this in your regular routine. Our off-campus housing also features a large recreational area where you and your peers can watch movies comfortably, socialize, and play various table games, such as billiards, foosball, and ping pong.

Management and Maintenance of Your Student Housing

You will have access to our on-site management and maintenance staff who are available on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In case of an emergency or if you need urgent assistance at any time of the day, you may call on them to help you. Our front desk associate is very accommodating, and you can rely on the maintenance staff to keep our residence clean.

Individual Liability Lease Agreements

Since you will be sharing your space with other residents, you might be anxious about having to be responsible for their lease and other charges in case they are unable to pay. Here at 17Hundred, we have an individual liability lease contract that frees you from any obligations concerning the fees due to other tenants sharing your apartment, so you can rest assured that you will only have to be responsible for your own monthly rent payments and any other charges to which you have agreed to pay.

Finding a Roommate at 17Hundred

Roommate matching services at our off-campus residence is a process we undertake to ensure that tenants share their space with students who have the same interests and preferences as they do. This is just one of the many ways we’re working to guarantee that you enjoy living here at 17Hundred. On the other hand, if you would prefer sharing your apartment with friends, you may simply list their names on your profile card and ask them to do the same on their cards.

We base our assessments from the information that students provide on the profile card which we hand out during the lease contract signing. On your profile card, there are a few questions about your personal interests, preferences, and hobbies. The answers that you provide on your profile card will be used to match you with other residents who would complement your individual personality and preferences.
